    Common Questions

What is Cyber Essentials and does our business need it?
Cyber Essentials is a UK government backed certification covering five basic security controls. Many public sector contracts, tenders and insurers now ask for it, and it is a sensible baseline for any Scottish business.
How much does Cyber Essentials certification cost?
The certification fee itself is set by the scheme and depends on your size, starting at a few hundred pounds for a small business. Most of the work is getting your systems ready, which we handle as part of your support.
What are the biggest cyber threats to small businesses in Scotland?
Phishing and invoice fraud by email, stolen passwords used to access Microsoft 365, and ransomware arriving through unpatched software. All three are largely preventable with multi factor authentication, filtering, patching and tested backups.
Do you provide staff cyber security training?
Yes. We run short, plain English awareness sessions and simulated phishing so your team can spot scams, because most breaches start with someone clicking rather than a technical failure.
What should we do if we think we have been hacked?
Call us straight away on 0800 054 8805. We isolate affected accounts and devices, stop the attacker's access, restore clean data and give you a written account of what happened for your insurer and any UK GDPR reporting.
Does cyber security cover UK GDPR compliance?
Good security is a large part of it. We handle the technical controls, access management and breach response side, and give you documentation to support your wider UK GDPR obligations.
